Grateful for my Little Corner of Cullinan

Updated: Nov 22

My Creative LifeStyle

Nestled in the quaint, historical town of Cullinan, famous for its rich mining history and beloved by tourists from all over, I’m building my little sanctuary, a place I lovingly call My Creative LifeStyle. The town, with its timeless charm, historic architecture, and the legend of the Cullinan Diamond, has captivated visitors for years.

The streets are lined with cozy cafés, artisanal shops, and reminders of a bygone era that add a unique warmth to the town, filled with beautiful Jacaranda trees that come to full bloom with lilac blossoms once a year. Amid all of this, I’ve found my private corner, a place that may not appear on any map but holds my whole world. It’s a space that’s so much more than a patch of land; it’s my sanctuary, a retreat, and a testament to the self-sustainable, creative lifestyle I want to live.

I yearn for a lifestyle with a deep need for simplicity. A place where life can slow down and where I can savor and enjoy meaningful, quiet moments. I wanted a space where the charm of the surroundings would mingle with the peace of solitude, allowing me to find inspiration in the town’s beauty and its rich, storied past.

Cullinan’s picturesque landscape and unique history are the perfect backdrop for this little sanctuary I’m creating. Every detail I choose is with intention, not for how it looks but for how it feels. I’ve set up a small table and two chairs under a canopy of trees, creating the perfect spot for afternoon tea, a simple, daily ritual where I can sit with my Maker and connect in quiet communion. The tea is always humble, sometimes a light herbal blend, other times a fragrant chai. As I sip, I offer my thoughts, my gratitude, my hopes, and my worries. In these small moments, I feel like I’m part of something greater, connected to both the timeless spirit of the town and the quiet place within my own heart.

Around me, my little landscape is transforming, fueled by my creativity and care. I’ve planted herbs and flowers in mismatched pots and repurposed containers, each one filling the air with a light fragrance and reminding me that beauty can come from simplicity. Each plant has become part of my journey toward self-sufficiency and a more harmonious life. Tending to my garden mirrors the care I pour into my other projects, such as crocheting, knitting, sewing, cooking, pets, and all things creative, creating all under the banner of My Creative LifeStyle.

Each day brings something new, another small task to ground me. Here in this corner, I’m free from others’ expectations, and I feel my energy replenishing from within. The time I spend here fills me with strength, allowing me to engage with others more fully and genuinely. My inner reserves are stronger than I ever imagined, and with each day I spend in this space, I find I can give more of myself without feeling drained.

As the seasons pass, My Creative Lifestyle and homestead living are becoming a true reflection of my sustainable lifestyle. I’ve repurposed old wood and recycled bricks to build an edible garden in my backyard and planted herbs, seasoned vegetables, and fruit trees, filling jars with handwritten labels that I stack on reclaimed shelves. Like the garden itself, each project is growing naturally, a part of the vision I’m bringing to life.

This place is more than a retreat for me; it’s a sacred space where I can meet my Maker over a simple cup of tea. In the quiet communion of these moments, I find my spirit renewed, my purpose clarified, and my heart filled with peace. Looking around at the life I’m crafting here, I know I’ve carved out a sanctuary of love, resilience, and creativity. Where I feel a deep sense of purpose, a reminder that a meaningful life doesn’t need much, only intention, creativity, and a willingness to grow with the world around me.

And so I carry on, building my life with open hands and a full heart, one moment and one cup of tea at a time.
